Today is traditionally also know as "Stir it up" Sunday
Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people;
That they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may of thee be plenteously rewarded;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
So as you stir three times each (east to west to represent the three wise men) say the prayer and make a wish.

Do you do this with your pudding, or with the cake? I think our friends in Yorkshire did it with the cake - every member of the family had to have a stir and we follow that tradition now. Sadly, we're not baking this year, although it's for a good reason - we'll be spending Christmas with Ben's mum, who is a very dedicated Christmas cook. So it's a year off for us, which is actually a bit of a shame...
Ha ! good for you ! I still have a pud that Jess & I made at a friend's a couple of years ago.
Oh bother, I thought next Sunday was stir-up. Oh well! Too late to worry now.
I like Nigella's chocolate Christmas pud - not terribly chocolatey but really delicious!
