About Me

I am Mummy Mad or Mrs Mad, I actually answer to quite a lot of things at the moment.  I am a 36 year old mother of two delicious boys, Maxi, who was born on 16 March 2005 and Mini, who was born on 24 June a year later.

I have been happily married to Mr Mad or MadDad to you for the last 15 years and he is my soul mate, my best friend and my rock (OK soppy stuff over)

I carry a spelling mistake in my BRCA1 gene and underwent an oomperectomy (removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes in July 2008 and a bi-lateral prophylactic mastectomy in February 2009.  Unfortunately the I have numerous complications after the surgery and was unable to have a reconstruction.

I am currently a stay at home mum, but due to financial constraints I am looking for family friendly work at the moment.

I love to write, sew, read, cook and craft with my children, spend time with my family and just generally be a buffoon!

I can be contacted at mail@jenwalshaw.co.uk

I couldn't find a comment box on your recent post about caring for your mum so thought I'd leave one here. Such a sad and heartfelt post and one I can really relate to. My mum has suffered from ill health on and off over the last 20 years and last year was in intensive care on a ventilator. It was frightening and overwhelming but she made a good recovery and has recently moved back closer to myself and brother because I think she and Dad realised they wouldn't be able to cope on their own living so far away. Unfortunately she's never really "mothered" me and I do resent her for that but I love her and will be there for her. Your children are much younger than mine though and your mum needs your care now and that must be overwhelming. Really sorry that you're going through this and hope you get lots of support from the rest of your family x
Hiya - Monday 1st March, Thanks so much for visitng me at my blog. You sound as if you have a lot on your plate at the moment. I hope your mumis improving. What a lot to worry about. I love the pic of you and Rupert! Julie x
I can't find a comment box either, except here! Hello mad mummmy, just seen your blog. Sorry to read about your mum. Smoking related illnesses are shocking and awful and it is ridiculous that smoking is still legal.
Your mum is a lucky lady to have someone prepared to have her move in and look after her. I wish you all the best in what sounds like pretty difficult circumstances.
Big Beluga. xx

can't find anywhere to email you - the cherry blossom is a 2 inch square of tissue folded into four and then rolled to a cone - cut a heart shape along the top which is the petal shape - selotape round the bottom and fan out the 'petals' to your liking, then tape to the branch ... it's entirely out of my head and there is probably a proper way to do it... have fund!
Sending you big hugs ;-)
Hi - have been trying to work out how to contact you as there were no comment boxes and I think I may have sent half an email earlier. Just wanted to say how much I love the blog. Have seen your name pop up on comment boxes on virtually every blog I read and there are quite a few! Anyway I just wanted to say I would be up for a fabric swap if you like over the summer - I dont know how much of my email you did or didnt get so I will stop now at the risk of repeating myself............................

Hope to hear from you soon - Best wishes Amanda
Hi there Just found your blog and love it. Lots of interesting and varied posts. I had BC and a mastectomy 4 years ago. Kids were young, times were tough (I'm with you on the job front) but getting through it now and was lucky enough to have a successful reconstruction last year.

Look forward to reading more. I'm at www.nowrigglingoutofwriting.wordpress.com (enjoying blogging to get back into freelance writing and @keastsbabe on twitter.
How funny, Squidge and Mini are the same age- the 25th for her!
