Pen pals for Children Required and Secret Post Club

We all love receiving mail and Heather at Notes from Lapland has started the secret post club to satisfy  the need to send and receive little parcels in the mail.

I received my wonderful parcel this week and it was  lovely to receive something in the mail.  I was paired with Silent Beauty, American Mom in England and I received some wonderful yarn and two special boxes of yummy treats.

Now this got me thinking and I would love to start something similar for the children in our life, but rather than sending a present, it becomes a letter swap.  Old fashioned pen pals.

I would love to encourage maxi and mini to have better penmanship and to encourage them to write, but to also communicate effectively by mail and there is something wonderful about receiving mail, even as a child.

So If you would like to get involved then either e-mail me (address as the bottom of the blog) and I will co-ordinate.  Initially I will need the age and sex of your child or children  and any preferences and then I will pair them up.  I think it would be nice for the children to remain pen pals long term, so that they can develop a relationship,

It will be great to tell them about the are they live, their family, their interests, hobbies, holidays etc.

So come on sign up and lets get our children writing, lets introduce them to the joys of letter writing and receiving and lets keep penmanship alive.

That's a fantastic idea - I still remember having my pen pals when I was a kid, one was from the States and another from Ireland - I think the first was via school and the second via Smash Hits (lol). So nice to get letters from a different country and find out about life for other kids your age. xxx

I think it is so great to get letters, I too had penpals and loved it. I think that this will help the boys with their writing and hey, if mummy can get mail, why cant they!!
Hi,

I have Miss Frugal who is seven and Master who is nearly five, they would love to join in. I think it's a brilliant idea.

Brilliant idea. Izzy is only 4 tho. Maybe very little ones could send each other postcards to start with and just practice writing their names and very simple messages. Izzy would love a opening an envelope containing a colourful postcard addressed to her. What do you think?

I think that is cool, Mini is only nearly 4 and I wouldnt want him to miss out, even receving a drawing would be so exciting for him.

It's a brilliant idea. I hope lots of children sign up. Mu daughter is 6 but she would just be too young for it. Perhaps when she is older. It was certainly something I loved doing when I was a child. I don't think as an adult I've sent a letter in ages, apart from through Heather's postal club.

Nah she is not too young, even sending a postcard or signing her name, that is also what I am expecting the boys to do!!
I think Clever Preschooler would like this! He's four in a couple months.

My daughter (age 7) would love to join. I'll e-mail you our info.
Isabelle would love this. She's always complaining she gets no mail. She's only 4 at the moment (5 in July) and can write albeit not always legibly, but she can draw a mean picture LOL. Please count her in, it would make her day. I'll email you her details. Lovely idea, thanks
