Spiritual Sunday - Grateful

I am so grateful to Interflora who sent be a bouquet of flowers just because they like my blog.  They even matched them to the blog colours too.

I am grateful that it is my mums 67th Birthday today, after her hospitalisation and all that came with it earlier in the year, I didn't think we would get this far and we have and she is doing really well.

I am grateful that she got on to a special COPD trial at the local hospital, even though it makes me taking her twice a week.

I am grateful that we have had a week of Mini going to school without any tears and tantrums.
I am grateful for heating on a cold Sunday morning.

I am grateful for the wonderful friends I have made blogging and on twitter for the support I have been given with Mini starting school.

I am grateful that my Brothers MIL may be released from hospital next week, she has made a miraculous recovery.
What are you grateful for this week?

Spiritual Sunday - Grateful

I am grateful for my wonderful boys, who came with me to the car boot sale and really behaved in this heat (yes I really am that pale).

We are grateful for cool paddling pools in hot weather.

We are grateful for plentiful elderflowers and have made yummy cordial.

My beautiful rambling rose, which is full of buds and flowers, the whole of the bottom of our garden (and next doors) is filled with wonderful scent.

The fragrant honeysuckle which has cover the boys playhouse from next doors garden.

What are you grateful for this Sunday?

Spiritual Sunday - Grateful

I spent a wonderful day yesterday with my Mum.  For the first time since she was in hospital in March we spend the morning  pottering round our local shops (yes I took and she filled my shopping trolley).  We then came back to themadhouse and spent an afternoon as a family.  So I thought a gratitude post was due.

Things I am grateful for

Sunshine - this makes such a difference to life, we shopped in town, hung washing on the line, went to the park and sat in the garden .

Mum feeling happier - even though mum is not physically any better, she is mentally on the mend, she was able to spend an hour at the park with the boys on her own and texted to say she had really enjoyed her day.

Mini in the Kitchen - I am grateful that my children enjoy helping me cook and bake, mini and I made garlic bread and pizza for dinner and had so much fun.
Painkillers - corny, but they really did save the day, making it much more tolerable for me.

Good neighbours - We found out that one of our neighbours are expecting their 5th child in October, how wonderful is that?  Plus they have a new greenhouse and offered us some space in it if we wish.
Mr Smudge - There is nothing like curling up and stroking him when the boys have gone to bed.

So my friends, what is making you grateful this beautiful Sunday?

Spiritual Sunday - Grateful

This morning is such a contrast to yesterday morning.  Yesterday the sun was beaming in the windows, we had the doors all wide open and spent the day in the garden, but this morning it is grey, dull and RAINING, but in some ways this only makes me feel so grateful that we made the most of yesterday and really enjoyed it.

So some other things I am grateful for this Sunday.

The Rain... yes the rain.  We planted some vegetables and seeds yesterday and this rain is doing a pretty good job of watering in the raised beds.

Warm porridge with maple syrup, our breakfast of choice at the moment.
Mint leaves from the garden to make fresh mint tea with.  The docs asked me to try giving up tea for a while as it inhibits the absorption of iron, this is hard for me being a tea monster.

I am also so grateful that the boys really do seem to be really enjoying each others company and play well together at the moment.

I am also ever so grateful for whoever has nominated me in the MAD's, Mummy and Daddy (MAD) Blog Awards, celebrating the utter brilliance of British parent blogs.

Today is the last day of open nominations for the first stage of the awards, so if you haven't voted yet, then please follow this link to give your opinions and make your votes.

Spiritual Sunday - Grateful

Maxi getting excited over playing with his Fun Domino's (a christmas present)
I am grateful:
  • My wonderful Saturday lie ins and being woken by my boys with a cup of tea.
  • Living nearby the sea, I love the ever changing landscape the sea brings.
  • The crocus' just poking out their green tips in next doors garden
  • Family dinners.
  • That my mums hand has healed well and that they have popped a fibre glass pop on which is much lighter for her.
  • That we have packed mums case and she is all set to go on holiday tomorrow
  • That the boys adore their cousins and spent a lovely afternoon with my Brother, SIL and Niece and us yesterday.
  • That my Farther In Law dropped off a sack of potatoes from the farm.
  • For my early morning Sunday cuddles with the mini's whilst letting MadDad have a reciprocal lie in.
  • Music, my home is filled with all sorts of music at the moment the mini's are singing Monkey Man and it is wonderful.
  • Baking.  The smell of food we have made cooking is just divine.
What are you grateful for this Sunday?

Things to be thankful for

I am feeling a little down at the moment.  Month left over at the end of the money thing going on yet again and the realisation that next month is going to be even worse, so I though I would take a leaf out of our American Cousins book and list some things I am truly thankful for.  The thinking is if I am full of gratitude then the negative thoughts can not get in..

I am thankful for my funny boys, my Dark Vader MiniMad and my "I dont want to dress up and be in the school play" MaxiMad.
I am thankful for my den making capabilities!!!
I am thankful for MadDad the main man, my rock, my soul mate and my forever friend.
I am thankful for my super kingsize bed, allowing the whole family Mad to sleep soundly, even when we are joined by two little people during the night.
I am thankful for living by the sea, there is something so calming about watching the waves lap the shore.
I am thankful for heating, this time last year our boiler was broke and we spent all of November and the first week of December without hot water or heating.
I am thankful for my Farther in Law who dropped in a sack of home grown potatoes for us.
I am thankful for having an extra large blanket to all snuggle under and watch TV.
I am thankful for having parsnips, leaks and sprouts still in the garden.

So care to join me......

Inspired

I am inspired to write after receiving the "proud to be meme" from Sandy over at Baby Baby.  I need to list 5 things that make I am proud of, but they have to be about me.

This is hard, I find it much easier to be proud or grateful of others, but here you go.

  1. I am proud that I can bake even if it is at 2 in the morning and I eat all the scones by lunchtime the following day.  Baking feeds my soul as well as my ever expanding tummy.
  2. I am proud that I am alive and will not have to live my life looking for cancer and waiting for it to bite me on the bub.  You can read my story at Bah to Cancer
  3. I am proud that I managed to eventually pass my driving test, even if I was pregnant with MiniMad and 33 years old at the time.
  4. I am proud that I have my two boys and that I am trying to raise them as well as I can.
  5. I am proud when I realise that my husband loves me regardless of how I look and that we work at our marriage to keep it strong and that it is worth working at.

Now I have also been inspired by Kat's post at Slugs on the refrigerator today, about moments bringing her such joy and I wanted to add five things that have done just that over the last few days.

  1. Opening up a parcel yesterday from an Internet friend which contained reading and activity books for the boys, a little magazine insert and a lovely necklace for me - all for no reason at all.  Thank you very much for bringing some joy and a little tear to my eye.
  2. Watching my boys play drums on tins yesterday
  3. When asking minimad what the weather was like this morning his reply was "doggy", when I asked what that was he said "misty" therefore, Fog will always and forever more be "dog" in my head
  4. I am grateful that my tomatoes are turning red
  5. I am so grateful to MadDads boss for the loan
